Welcome to Biskey Place

Biskey Place is a charming two bedroom cottage, comprising the lower two floors of a large four storey traditional Lake District terrace.   It is centrally located in Bowness-on-Windermere, the heart of the beautiful Unesco World Heritage Lake District and only 10 mins walk to the shores of Lake Windermere.   There are lots of great quality restaurants and bars within 2 – 10 mins walk from the house. There are also great transport links to the rest of the Lakes and the country with the railway station 2 miles away in Windermere village and the M6 motorway only 20 mins drive away.

Access to the property is by self check in only, with a door code provided directly to your mobile the day prior to your arrival.  We ask that you provide us with a mobile number or email that you can access when you make your booking so that you receive this information.

The accommodation provides two well appointed bedrooms, 1 x  Kingsize bedded room (max occupancy 2 individuals)  & 1 x twin bedded  room (max occupancy 2 individuals)  with shared family bathroom.  Please note the total occupancy of the property is 4 individuals.  Unfortunately Biskey Place is not suitable for babies, infants or toddlers as there is no provision for cots, highchairs, extra beds, baby gates, bed guards, fire guards, socket covers etc. 

Ground floor has lounge/dining room, fully equipped kitchen including microwave, oven & grill, washing machine & dryer. Smart TVs in all rooms, free wifi and parking on-site for 1 car. 

Up to 2 well behaved small to medium dogs can stay with an additional charge of £30.00 per dog per stay applicable.  Please tell us when making your booking.

Biskey Place is the lower 2 floors of a large 4 storey traditional Lake District terrace. We make every effort to meet the needs of all our guests, however being an older property there are some features that might make access difficult for people with limited mobility.  The property is over two floors and there is no lift.

Bowness by its nature is built up from the Lake shore with the only flat areas by the Lake shore itself. Disable parking is available by the lake shore.

Our rooms would unfortunately not be able to accommodate a wheelchair. Similarly we cannot accommodate anyone under the age of 8 years old as we do not provide family rooms or facilities for babies, infants, toddlers or younger children. The accommodation does not provide cots, highchairs, baby gates, additional beds etc

Up to 2 small to medium well behaved dogs may stay with a charge of £30.00 per dog per stay applicable payable at booking. This must be arranged with us at the time of booking. Assistance dogs are free of charge but we must be notified at the time of booking.

We are situated a few minutes walk up a hill from the centre of Bowness and can be accessed by road or on foot on the newer part of Craig Walk. We are lucky enough to enjoy peaceful surroundings yet only minutes from the town centre and approximately 500m from the shores of Lake Windermere.

There are 2 x double occupancy bedrooms ( 1 x twin and 1 x kingsize) with a flat screen smart TV, hairdryer in each room. A family bathroom with bath and shower plus toiletries and fluffy towels. There is a full kitchen equipped with all the utensils you might need, oven, microwave, fridge, washer/dryer, kettle and toaster and a through lounge/dining room on the ground floor with fireplace and flat screen smart TV.

Guest Information folder will contain emergency procedures along with full equipment information and policies for the property.

We are located at 84 Craig Walk in Bowness – on – Windermere. There is easy access along the road by cycle, on foot and by car from the property to the centre of the village.

All documents are available in large print, some on line and all on request. We regret we do not have the facilities to provide documents in Braille.

  • Windermere rail and bus station are approximately 20 – 30 mins walk and is approximately 2 miles.
  • There are local Taxi companies and a taxi rank outside the station.
  • Windermere town centre is approximately 2 miles away.
  • Bowness town centre is approximately 3 – 5 mins walk away.
  • Lake Windermere is approximately 500 metres away – Tourist Information location.
  • Ambleside town centre is approximately 6 miles away.
  • The nearest bus stop is outside the Royalty Cinema, Bowness, situated on the main road in the village.
  • There are plenty of regular buses and additional Tourist open top services throughout the summer season.


Access to the accommodation is by self check in only. A mobile or email address must be provided at booking as a text/email will be sent 24 hours prior to arrival with the code for the front door.

  • Parking for the property is at the rear where the front door will be found.
  • There is a second access from the main road leading into the shared hallway with the flat upstairs and the door to the upper hallway and the bedrooms.
  • The hallway from the door front door is small with a radiator, stairs leading up to the bedrooms and a door to the right into the lounge.
  • The covering on the stairs is short-pile fitted carpet.
  • There is a handrail on the right hand side of all the internal stairs leading to the bedrooms.
  • There are 11 steps (av height 19 cm, 84cm wide) up to the first small landing followed by a further 1 steps leading to the bedrooms on the first floor and bathroom.
  • All the doors in the house are manual and are fitted with fire closures making them heavier to open than those without.
  • The house is centrally heated throughout by gas boiler and radiators
  • The house and grounds are non-smoking. There is a £50 cost if smoking is in the rooms and guests will be asked to leave

  • Located to the right of the main entrance.
  • Floor covering is laminate throughout.
  • There is a two seater leather recliner sofa and 2 further lounge chairs.
  • A flat screen smart TV, central lighting & lamps, coffee table and an original range fireplace.
  • Oak dining table and 6 chairs & bookcase

  • Located on the left from the lounge/dining room
  • Fully equipped with inventory in the guest information folder ie cooking and eating utensils, glassware and cutlery.
  • Contains fridge, oven with hot plates & grill, extractor fan, kettle, toaster, microwave, washer/dryer.
  • Cleaning equipment is provided with hoover, sweeping brush etc along with iron and ironing board and clothes airer.

  • All bedroom entrance doors are fire doors fitted with fire closures making them heavier than ordinary doors to open.
  • All bedroom flooring is short pile fitted carpets.
  • There are hair dryers, fans and a flat screen smart TV
  • There are ceiling lights and two bedside lamps.
  • There are in room sounders for the Fire Alarm.
  • Our environmental notice states that enough towels and linen are provided for a 7 day stay at the property. For stays of longer duration arrangements will be made to service the property and change the towels and linen. All bed linen is 100% Egyptian cotton.
  • We use duvets throughout the bedrooms and all pillows and duvets are synthetic.
  • Each room has storage space of a wardrobe with wooden hangers, dressing table with stool, drawers and mirror, bedside cabinets with drawers.

  • Facilities consist of a bath with over bath shower, WC and wash basin.
  • Accessed one step up from the small landing off the stairs.
  • There is a glass shelf and mirror with electric shaver point.

  • Located on the first floor 1 x step up from the small landing. The twin room directly in front and the master along the corridor to the left.
  • The door width to the rooms is 84cm wide.
  • The twin room is 2 x standard single beds and the master bedroom is 1 x king size

  • There is a very small garden directly outside the master bedroom.
  • There is an area outside the lounge by the mail entrance which consists of a parking space.
  • Access to the village is either out the main entrance and down the lane to the main road, or out the secondary entrance and onto Craig Walk and through to the main road.

  • Mobile phone reception is generally very good.
  • Internet access is available throughout the building.
  • There are fire extinguishers by the main entrance, along with a break glass point, and on each landing. A continuous alarm sounds in the event of a fire.
